If you’re a parent nothing is more important than the health and well-being of your child. Anything that challenges this treasured gift of your child will immediately try the most faithful. For the Guzman family this test came early. When I flew to Beeville, TX. to produce this film I really didn’t know what I was walking into. So many times when I take on a story the scope is limited until you begin to actually enter into people’s lives. I was familiar with Royce being non-verbal and the miracle of “the song” but I was not anticipating to discover an equally compelling another story running parallel tracks to this amazing young boy. And yet, now as I look back on the experience I see how exquisitely beautiful yet simple God’s work can be when we allow Him to work as He desires with all of His families. I partnered with the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception to produce this story for their EWTN show, Living Divine Mercy available at: DivineMercyPlus.org.
Jesus calls every family into being and they are His, at least He desires that we surrender it all to His Merciful care. In a time when we tend to fall for the illusion of self-sufficiency God is still choosing the weak and simple to purify our pride so that we can rise to new life in Him. Even Royce’s own mother attests to this when she says, “our faith is stronger.” The ending of this film was one of the most joy-filled and teary-eyed scene’s I’ve ever filmed. Out of the mouth babes God is still trying to teach and reassure us.
